Moving Day for the NJKatwoman
Many of you have noticed that I have not been on YouTube much lately, and I have received many nice messages in concern. All is well, friends! Since the beginning of April, I have been busy packing, Goodwilling, Ebaying, and trashing 1/2 ton and 40 years of accumulated possessions. Yes, folks, I AM a pack rat! Because of limited funds, I was also limited on the amount of things that I could have the movers take, and I STILL left things behind, like, my bicycle, my backpack, and tent, my vacuum cleaner, etc. I had overestimated the amount of room in my pick up truck, so, some things had to stay.
I hired Swift Movers out of Jersey City….the petite Russian man w/ the mustache is Gary….a wonderful and personable man. Gary had come to my house three times to see how I was progressing in the packing, and he also brought me boxes and tape. I think Gary really went the extra mile for me.
I thought that their price quoted was very reasonable, and I only went $200.00 over the original quote.
But Gary must have “outsourced” the job to Smooth Movers, out of Newark, NJ. They dropped two boxes, broke an antique plate, and they told me they would have my stuff to the storage unit on Saturday…..then it was Sunday, and finally, they showed up five days later! Heavy boxes were placed on top of light ones, and I truly won’t know how many things were damaged or broken until I get into a place and get all unpacked. And after a couple of months of unpacking, I found boxes were MISSING!!!! Someone ELSE might have my stuff!!!
Moving sucks! I wish I could have afforded to hire Debstef!!! The best mover EVER!
