Well unlike most liberals, conservatives like to do what they can as opposed to letting/making someone else do it. And who knows, the boxes may have been filled with money, Chaney came to the VP slot as a millionaire and was taking the money he earned over a life time of hard work. We know if you are rich (the amount you make varies on what day of the week it is) that you will have your taxes raised and if the money is hidden the new government will a much harder time getting it.

His Ego was probably in full swing because he likes running the show so he was doing it better himself.
He is too smart to keep cash around. All his abig bucks from his tour in the VP came from his ties to Haliburton; the company that did all the logistics for the military operations in the Gulf.
Just because he stepped down for his position with them does not mean he will not step back up with them when he leaves office. At that time he will probably receive giant bonuses which will be tied to some bogus operations to cover his butt.
