I always get mine from liquor stores or places like toys r us. They always have a ton of boxes and are more than happy to have someone else take them away. Try to go at the beginning of the week when they get new shipments in.

Yes, liquor stores are a good source. You could see if Freecycle has a user group (online, usually through Yahoo groups) near you and join it. Put a post up for moving boxes. I see offers for boxes all the time on the Milwaukee Freecycle network, and I’m pretty sure there’s a group for nearly every major US city.
