Where can I get free or cheap boxes for moving?

I live in Michigan if it helps. I am looking for boxes either free or the cheapest you know about. I know a lot of businesses use boxes and throw them away and I have asked a few places if I could have their boxes and they would let me. Any suggestions? Thanks

You could go to a grocery store and ask them for some boxes. When I moved, we just went to Tops and asked them for some empty boxes for moving and they gave them to us free.

That’s all we did every time we’ve moved! Ask business’ or go to a recycling depot and grab some out of the bins if you are allowed. We also used rubbermaid totes (the big ones) and can also use them for storage after the move! They are fairly cheap in WalMart or other chain stores.
(Liquor stores have tons of boxes they don’t use!)

Liquor stores have great boxes for moving. What’s great about them is that they all have dividers in them – great for keeping breakable items separated. And they are of a reasonable size so that they don’t get overly heavy. Also check with some local moving companies. Sometimes they have boxes that have been used that they are only going to throw away and will give them to you really cheap. Try to get some on the ones with the bars – great for taking clothes right from the closet. Good luck with your move.
