3 Keys to Packing Your Moving Boxes Efficiently
No one likes to buy moving boxes. But with a little thought about packing efficiently, you can minimize the amount you need to spend on moving supplies.
Below are three key ideas to help you keep your moving supply costs down.
First, it’s important to purchase sturdy clean boxes and packing materials that are designed specifically for the items you will be moving. By trying to use boxes meant for non-moving purposes, items can be easily damaged or inefficiently packaged, which costs you additional expense in the long run.
Second, label and number each box in an effort to keep your packing process organized. And make sure to include information about which room the box belongs in. Additionally, keep a separate inventory list of all the key items inside each box.
This will eliminate a tremendous amount of confusion when it comes time to unpack your moving boxes. Trying to move without this system of organization will likely add many hours to your move.
Third, think ahead before placing your items into the moving boxes. Always place the heavier items toward the bottom of the box and the lighter items toward the top of the box.
Do your best to pack each box out completely. Use packing paper, also known as newsprint, to fill in all the gaps or any empty space at the top of the box. This will keep your items from shifting unnecessarily during the actual move.
